A flail is a one-handed weapon with medium attack speed that can be paired with a shield. Just like other weapons, the flail has two mastery trees. The Flail Mastery trees are:
Cleric Weapon - the tree is about utilizing arcane magic through Arcane Smite, Arcane Vortex, and Arcate Eruption abilities. These deal AOE damage and inflict impairment on enemies. Passive bonuses grant the ability to heal yourself and allies and increase damage.
Bastion Weapon - is a supporting tree providing strong buffs to your teammates. The tree also specializes in crowd control abilities. Barrage allows you to tank incoming damage. Trip allows you to control and knock down your enemies, while the Warding Bludgeon ability is all about defense - by using it, you can increase the defense ability of your team. Passive bonuses reduce taken damage and block stamina damage, while about 50% and below 50% of HP, respectively.
Is a Flail worth it in New World?
A flail is a powerful weapon featuring unique mechanics - extra range and impairment. The first is to increase the range of attacks by extending the flail tip. The second is about weakening enemies and dealing periodic damage.
