Atiesh, Greatstaff of the Guardian is one of only four legendary weapons in Classic WoW and the only one for casters. During original Classic only few players ever completed it because the questline demands months of Naxxramas progression and guild coordination. Owning Atiesh puts you in an incredibly exclusive group.
Getting Atiesh means your guild needs to funnel you resources over months of raiding. You compete with every other caster in your raid for Splinter of Atiesh drops. Most guilds use loot council to decide who gets splinters which creates drama and politics. Even if your guild picks you it's still 8-12 weeks minimum of full Naxx clears plus kills on C'Thun and Kel'Thuzad. Miss a week or fall behind and you're waiting even longer. Many players collected a few splinters then never finished because their guild moved on or fell apart.
