The daily lockout means one shot per character per day. Simple math says expect around 100 attempts to hit average probability. Reality is often much worse.
TBC Classic adds another layer of difficulty. Anzu doesn't spawn automatically. You need a Druid who completed the epic flight form quest chain to summon him using the Essence-Infused Moonstone. Without that Druid your Heroic run is worthless for mount farming.
